Day 13 - February 26

Scripture Reading

Psalm 42:1-3 (NLT)

1 As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God.

2 I thirst for God, the living God. When can I go and stand before him?

3 Day and night I have only tears for food, while my enemies continually taunt me, saying, “Where is this God of yours?”

Prayer Focus

For a soul that longs after God.

Too late did I love you, O Beauty, so ancient, and yet so new! Too late did I love you! For behold, you were within, and I without, and there did I seek you; I, unlovely, rushed heedlessly among the things of beauty you made. You were with me, but I was not with you. Those things kept me far from you, which, unless they were in you, were not. You called, and cried aloud, and forced open my deafness. You gleamed and shined, and chased away my blindness. You exhaled odors, and I drew in my breath and panted after you. I tasted, and hunger and thirst. You touched me, and I burned for your peace.

~ “Too Late Did I Love You,” Augustine of Hippo
